Vendor Locators Tips for Vendors
Tip 3 - Avoid buying "Lifetime Guarantees" from locating companies,
Locating companies often use this scam to get more money from you when you contract with them. They know this will be the last time you'll send them money, so they use this different "guarantee" to get as much money from you as possible.
It sounds good. All future locations at half price!
But it's worthless.
If you're happy with your locations and want to build your route - you already have the name and phone number of the locater (remember the difference between the locator and the locating company ?) who found you the spots. You have no need to do business with this locating company again.
And if you're in the large group of vendors who are unhappy with the locater they sent to you, why would you want to pay one of their contractors again, to do another poor job ?
Tip 4 - Prune your route
If you have built your route to the maximum number of locations you can handle, would you like to increase your income 30%?
You can! Prune your route.
It's simple. Just replace 10% of your lowest producing machines, every 13 weeks for 2 years. An example: You have 200 locations. Take your machine out of the 20 stores that have the lowest revenue and place them in new stores. Then do it again 13 weeks later. The new 20 lowest producers.
If you do this 8 times over 2 years, you will have what is known as a "tight" route.
Yes it's a lot of work. You will actually be replacing 160 of the old and new locations. But your reward is you will be making 30% more for servicing 200 locations. Many vendors find they are making 40% plus more.
If you have the patience and foresight, you'll make a lot more money by "pruning" your route.
Tip 5 - Avoid all business opportunity ads in the newspaper and almost all Internet vending offers.
They are targeted to those not in this business. You will find you can buy the same vending machine for 50% plus less by calling advertisers in trade magazines that sell to those in the business. Or buy machines at a vending convention.
Another good way. Check EBay. Many people before you who have failed in this business (usually because they overpaid for their equipment and used locating companies) are selling their machines simply to recoup some money. Or maybe they're advertising on EBay because of a business reason - they're moving or have a personal situation. Regardless you can get some great prices.
And for those who vend soda machines: Contact me to find out how Coke or Pepsi will let you use their machine for free, by buying their products. This will save you thousands of dollars.
Hope these tips help bring you greater success !
