Allenton is located in Lehigh County Pennsylvania. Located in eastern PA, with a population of about 106,000 - it is the third largest city in Pennsylvania - behind Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Allentown holds a special place in American history. It is the place where the Liberty Bell was hidden from the British during the American Revolutionary War. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1777 ordered that eleven bells - including the Liberty Bell be moved and hidden to prevent the British from melting them down to make cannons. They were hidden in Allentown's Old Zion Reformed Church in the basement. A historic monument now exists on the site.
Allentown is also the birthplace of Lee Iacocca, the auto executive from Ford and Chrysler.
Easton Pennsylvania is a much smaller city with a population of about 26,000. It is the county seat of Northampton County and sits where the Delaware River and Lehigh River meet. It is the smallest of the three Pennsylvania Lehigh Valley cities. Of note, it is the birthplace of TV personality Sally Jessy Raphael, and the hometown of former heavyweight boxing champion of the world Larry Holmes.
Bethlehem lies in the center of the Lehigh Valley. It has a population of about 71,000 making it the eighth largest city in Pennsylvania. There are three general areas of the city - North Bethlehem - South Bethlehem - and West Bethlehem. In 2006 Money magazine named Bethlehem one of the top 100 places in America to live. Bethlehem has been a center of industrial activity, with Bethlehem Steel being formed in 1904.
