Toledo Vending Machine Locator
Every time I get to Toledo it reminds me of home. And why not ? Years ago I lived in Toledo for a while. I can still remember hotdogs at Tony Pacco's while sipping some cold brews on a hot summer night. And the Lake Erie breezes which sometimes swirled through downtown during a Mudhens game. Walks through the Toledo Zoo out Anthon Wayne Trail. And Sunday services at the Cathedral on Collingwood.
Toledo is a lot different these days. The Lions store and Tiedke's are out of business as shoppers moved from downtown to the Woodville Mall and Westgate. St Vincents Hospital dominates Cherry Street - the long-time residents around St V's replaced by urban renewal. The Sports Center by the river on Cherry is still there - but the once proud building shows signs of age.
So with all this change - how do you know where to put your vending machines ? How can you make a profit when folks keep moving around and entire neighborhoods disappear ?
By keeping up with the changes as they occur.
Bowling Green
Pretty much the hot spots in Bowling Green center around Bowling Green State University. I-75 and Route 6 are the main connectors to the outside. But the college crowd will be your main vending machine customers.
You can successfully place vending machines near the I-75 exits. Lots of restaurants and hotels - places where the Michiganders stay on their way north. Bowling Green hotel patrons are often from the "State Up North" - who are just a little too tired to make those last 150 miles.
Around BGSU there is a lot of demand for pop vending machines and soda vending machines. Placement of Video Poker and other amusement machines is very popular where the kids hang out. Newspaper machines for a large variety of newspapers can be found near campus - not very many locations for additional vending machines remain.
Findlay
Riding down I-75 you get to the Sugar Towers as I call them. Storage silos for sugar that seem larger than life. That must mean you are in Findlay Ohio.
Also home to Marathon Oil, Findlay is a growing town a little over an hour south of Toledo. And just to the south is Lima, another main city of Ohio.
Findlay has a lot of old-time residents. It had a flooding disaster, but Findlay is recovering nicely. Not very many travellers seem to get off at Findlay. I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps it is too close to the travelling public's starting point or trip destination. But it seems to me that they push north to Bowling Green or Toledo - or south to Lima or Dayton Ohio. I find most vending machine placement opportunites to be with Findlay itself, as opposed to much potential along the interstate.
Napoleon
Napoleon has historically been economically dependent on Campbell's Soups and farming. It gets some traffic from US-24, but that is about it. I have driven the back ways to and from Michigan from Napoleon. If there is much chance for placing a profitable vending machine - it doesn't seem to be that way. So for Napoleon - either in town or along Route 24. The Maumee River is scenic - but vendors could have a tough time in Napoleon.
