Southern Maryland

This is a more difficult area, but one can be successful here. A city is avoid is Waldorf. Other vendors have had problems setting up great accounts there. Otherwise, the area is OK.

If I were starting a vending machine company here, I'd start with Coke and Pepsi machines and bulk.

Metro Baltimore

A very diverse and busy area! A great area to set up any kind of route.

The best areas to get started in are:

- Broadway and Eastern Ave out to Essex:
- Glen Burnie area
- Mountain Road in Pasadena
- Ft. Smallwood area
- Joppa Rd from US 40 to Towson-
- downtown Baltimore

Areas to avoid:

- east Baltimore
- Park Heights

Northeast Maryland

Harford and Cecil Counties are very good. And Cecil County will soon be a goldmine area with the 60,000 new residents moving in the APG area.

Anywhere in these two counties you can do well. Some vendors are leery of Edgewood, but it's a great area for vending machines. And safe during the daytime.

One thing that has always surprised me about new vendors is their reluctance to go into good areas because they heard it's not a "safe area". Many times I've been told they worry about the safety of their machine. My response is always: "Why are you worried about your $100 ($1000) machine? This store has $40,000 ($100,000) of inventory, and they're not worried."

I say this when it's a great spot and in a neighborhood I feel safe in. I'm spending a minute on this topic, as sometimes vendors want their machines in high end neighborhoods where it will do 30% the volume it would do in a working class neighborhood. This is true especially with bulk, snack and soda. I'm not trying to talk anyone reading this to go into areas where you do not feel safe. But I want you to understand that certain vending machines do best in certain neighborhoods. And I want you to make money.

Eastern Shore

This is a good area and a nice play to locate. Without question, Salisbury and Ocean City are the two best cities to build your route.
