No professional locater will ever ask you to send a report. They want your future business, and will replace any location you're unhappy with on their next job with you. With no questions !

Another requirement or "trick" is to require you to meet the owner of the business that has agreed to take your vending machine with the locator. (A "tour") Very few locators do this, as they are paid to find locations, not to take you around and visit the locations.

Let's say you have 25 locations. One can visit an average of 4-5 businesses per hour, with the time spent inside each store. That's 6 hours of the locator's time that he/she is being asked to work for nothing. So of course they discourage it. Often making time for a "tour" requires them to pay for another night at a hotel out of their pocket. One can't blame them for discouraging it.

Also it's not necessary. The store owner is waiting for you to bring in your vending machine, not to shake your hand and say "hello". Of course you'd like to know what locations your locator is finding. Any good locator will give you a daily report, so you can check them.

That's not what I'm talking about. It's their requirement you tour with the locator after the job is done to accept the locations.

Now why do I call this a "trick"? Because if you read the locating company's guarantee, it is void if you do not take a tour with your locator right after he/she has found your locations.

No professional locator will ever require you to take a tour with them. They will give you a daily report of locations found. Or ask you to follow them with your vending machine, and place it immediately as they find your spots.

And here's another popular "trick" - requiring you to sign a "sign off" sheet after your locator has found all the spots. This is a list of locations your locator found. If you read the small print above where you are asked to sign, it will say something like "I like these spots" or "I accept them". Why do they require this? Later if you're unhappy with some locations, they can come back and say "But you put in writing you liked these locations. It's too late to change your mind now. We did our job."

Now there is nothing wrong with the locating company receiving a list of locations with your signature. That lets them know the job is done. The trick is the small print above your signature. It doesn't say "Here are the locations the locator found me". The small print says you're satisfied with the locations or something similar - Which is ridiculous. How can you be? You have not placed your equipment yet and have no idea how well you will do there.

No professional locator will ever ask you to sign a "sign off" sheet.

The locating company has these (and sometimes other) requirements in their contract with you for one reason: To void their guarantee or warranty with you.  So they can personally keep the money you sent them. They don't want to send any money back to you if you're not happy. And they know from experience, that 95% of vendors do not follow their requirements faithfully, thus voiding their "guarantee".

Even if you are in that five percent who follow all of their requirements, what happens? Since your locator is probably in another state finding locations for someone else. (If they're still working for them) And your locating company is probably hundreds of miles away, so you're not able to sit down with anyone over a cup of coffee to address your concerns.
